Ian Robertson has a life long interest in the Western Esoteric Tradition. This has resulted in his active involvement in a number of groups and Societies, some that he has written about. He has lectured extensively on subjects ranging from Consciousness Studies, Alchemy, Freemasonry, Rosslyn Chapel, Gnosticism and Comparative Religion. Ian has lectured for the University of Edinburgh, the International Conference on the History of Freemasonry, Sacred Connections, the Saunier Society, the Theosophical Society and sold out the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in 2005 and 2006 lecturing alongside Simon Cox and Mark Oxbrow.
In 2008, Ian was part of the team that brought the Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull to the UK. This was the first and only time, to date, that this most famous of all the Crystal Skulls has appeared on public display in the UK. Another first Ian, his wife, Vivienne and his colleague Mark Oxbrow, along with four others participated in recently was the re-establishment of the dormant Incorporation of Candlemakers of Edinburgh who were first constituted in 1517 (more to follow on this via Into the Duat blogs).
Ian's books include The Quest for the Celtic Key (1999) and Rosslyn and the Grail (2005), co-authored with Karen Ralls and Mark Oxbrow respectively. He has also ghost written for other publications and has written articles for magazines and privately printed journals. Ian's future projects include collaborations with Simon Cox and Mark Oxbrow as well as a number of historical and esoteric booklets in the not too distant future.
Aside from all of this, Ian regularly carries out bespoke tours around historic sites such as Rosslyn Chapel, Historic Edinburgh and esoteric sites across Scotland. Recently groups that he has catered for include members of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, the Theosophical Society as well as Irish, Finish, Dutch, American and English Freemasons. |
